As our company was founded in Bremen in 1979. It traded as the foreign trading business ALFKO. It later became the newly founded ALFIMEX foreign trading business. That was back in 1994. ALFIMEX made a smooth transition to draw on the success of its predecessor. The reason for this is almost certainly the fact that the management team was kept intact with Uwe Köpke as the managing partner. Since 1979 the company has been a leading supplier of used German Federal Army vehicles. These are overhauled to high standards of quality and sold worldwide. A key asset here is the after-sales service. We also provide this service for other products in our product range, a range which we have continually extended over the years. We have been supplying products to countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Liberia, Guinea, Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Indonesia and Pakistan.
The entrepreneur Köpke discovered the potential of Cuba in 1995 when visiting Cuba as part of a delegation comprising prominent German representatives of industry. The comparative absence of German exports was immediately apparent. That changed with the foundation of Alfimex Cuba and a branch in Havanna. This has been operating since 1st January 1997, and has meanwhile become a highly respected company in Cuba. Its success is based not only on its products of special interest to Cuba.
Alfimex's capital is its employees and the firm basis of trust which marks the way it works together with its Cuban business partners.

Alfimex employs 19 staff in total in the Cuban branch and in the Bremen head office, the majority in Havanna. On 1st January 2002 the management team was extended, with managing partner Lars Köpke being taken aboard. He heads the central office in Bremen. This is responsible for purchasing, finances and handling. Uwe Köpke is continuing with sales and is, at the same time, head of the Cuban branch.
